Police seized 19 firearms and six grenades from an open area in Kalansuwa, a majority-Arab city in central Israel, on Sunday.
The cache included one Kalashnikov rifle, three M-16 assault rifles, eight handguns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Investigators also recovered three tactical vests. A police explosives expert processed the six fragmentation grenades and two stun grenades at the scene.
Officers arrested two family members present during the raid and submitted the seized items as evidence. The operation was part of a broader initiative to reduce violent crime in Arab sectors. Police are still investigating the origin of the weapons, which they said were stolen from the Israel Defense Forces.
In the West Bank, authorities found the body of an East Jerusalem man in his 40s in the Wadi Rahal area near Bethlehem on Monday. Forensic investigators and IDF soldiers collected evidence at the scene. The body was scheduled for transfer to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.
Police stated that initial findings indicate the incident was criminal in nature rather than terror-related.
Security forces also arrested a Palestinian resident of Bethlehem overnight on Sunday. Officers identified the suspect as a member of Hamas. During the raid, they searched his home and that of another resident suspected of possessing weapons. Forces confiscated a loaded hunting rifle, IDF uniforms, and technological items. The suspects were taken to the Ma'ale Adumim police station to face charges for possessing illegal weapons and military equipment.
In Rahat, police rescued a man whose leg was shackled to the floor of his home on Sunday. Officers freed the man and arrested his brother. Preliminary findings indicate the brother chained the man due to drug use. The suspect was taken to the Rahat police station for questioning.
